AUSTRALIAN-INSPIRED SCULPTURES

FUNCTION MEETS FORM

The featured projects illustrate the beautiful, custom-designed sculptural and wall-mounted pieces The Fifth Room creates for both commercial and residential projects.

Above is The Fifth Room’s sheoak design; a striking and distinctive piece that was first commissioned by National Homes for a display home in the suburb of Butler. It is made from Corten steel; a special weathering steel that doesn’t flake and rust like mild steel. Installed with The Fifth Room’s high quality weatherproof LED backlighting, the piece makes a stunning light feature for a large blank wall. The standard design is 3.2m x 1.2m, but The Fifth Room has made a version as large as 4.8 metres wide.

Pictured here is another of The Fifth Room’s stunning designs, installed at Red Cabbage Food + Wine restaurant in Perth. This project acts as a privacy screen, as well as a beautiful light feature that provides an intimate courtyard space for diners. The design was inspired by the Western Australian gum flower and is made of Corten steel with acrylic and LED backlighting.

Tanya and Rob McCulloch from The Fifth Room work throughout Perth’s metropolitan areas and the south-west of Western Australia. They send their pieces all over Australia, and have been commissioned to complete several international projects.
