LUXURIOUS SPLENDOUR

RISING TO THE CHALLENGE

Endlessly extending towards the horizon, this striking infinity-edge pool takes full advantage of this property’s enviable river views, combining the beauty of nature with utter luxury.

The owners of the Mount Lawley property wanted a pool that was visually stunning and made the most of their views over the Swan River. Busy entrepreneurs, the homeowners are time-poor and wanted a pool that was easy to manage and control. Although the pool is complex in design, Dynamic Pools has ensured minimal maintenance by providing simple operating systems that can be controlled at the touch of a button.

The project presented a number of challenges. The property is on a slope close to the river and the water table is high. This issue influenced the design to some extent, as building the pool above-ground avoided digging into water. However, building the pool above-ground also created engineering challenges with additional steel and concrete piling required.

The infinity-edge balance tank is very narrow, making both the structural formation and application of the pool interior extremely difficult. To address this, an innovative formwork concept was used to enable the pool, spa and balance tank to be built in one concrete piece. As Dynamic Pools specialises in difficult sites and designs, such challenges are easily resolved and the team has excelled in this complicated build.

The freeform shape of the pool and its positioning on the block mimic the graceful bends of the Swan River, while also appearing modern and sleek. The spa is situated to provide a perfect view from a seated position, while a foot ledge along the infinity-edge of the pool allows the homeowners to stand comfortably against the pool wall and admire the view.

Glass mosaic tiles were selected in a shade of green that mirrors the river on a beautiful summer’s day. These tiles were applied to the entire spa, the infinity edge wall and the pool waterline, extending over the coping edge of the pool. They are perfectly complemented by a glass Jewels 4 Pools interior.

Millboard decking runs right up to the spa edge, where it meets frameless glass fencing panels, individually curved by the manufacturer specifically for this project.

IMPRESSIVE LUXURY

A MULTI-PURPOSE DESIGN

This luxurious lap pool was designed by dynamic Pools. With an infinity edge at one end that creates the appearance of water disappearing over the edge and into the surrounding parkland, there certainly is a ‘wow’ factor here. Rich timber decking and Bluestone limestone coping pavers also surround the pool for a beautiful contrast that is cool underfoot.

The homeowners required a pool that suited multiple needs including a space that was large enough to swim laps and let the kids play, as well as a design that tied in with the modern home, while still allowing enough room for an entertaining area.

To achieve this, the team at dynamic Pools installed a 15.2m long pool with a 5.3 x 1.5m bench and swim-out area for sitting in the pool and relaxing. The materials used also enabled a seamless integration from inside the home to the new outdoor space.

The outdoor area is long and narrow, so the pool needed to be positioned to stretch across the space, while still leaving sufficient room to walk around. The whole pool was dug out of rock, which required specialist rock-breaking equipment, and the pool is built very close to the boundary, so additional steel reinforcement was required.

With more than 12 years of experience in pool construction, John Meli decided to start dynamic Pools in 2006. The company specialises in building concrete pools in unusual designs and on difficult sites. offering a complete hard landscaping package, dynamic Pools is able to build not just your pool, but any surrounding retaining, boundary or feature walls, paving and more.

The company primarily works throughout the Perth metropolitan area, but can also service clients further afield. The company builds fewer than 20 projects each year, deliberately limiting the number of pools so that each can be carefully supervised to maintain the highest levels of quality and customer care.
