REACHING NEW HEIGHTS

DESIGN EXCELLENCE

Built by Oasis Pools, this 7m x 3.5m out-of-ground concrete pool offers stunning views over the picturesque canal waters. The owners of the property wanted a pool that was self-supporting and maximised space, and Oasis Pools achieved this by building the pool on the upper floor of the house. The pool was built above the existing paving, which meant that it required minimal space because no extra retaining walls were required.

Owner of Oasis Pools, Gil Howard worked closely with his team to design and arrange construction of this stunning pool.

The finished space is a family-friendly pool that provides the owners of the home with stunning water views from every angle.

The pool is surfaced in Duraquartz Ice Blue plaster, and the surrounding paving was provided by Australis Pavers. Oasis Pools removed some of the existing retaining walls and went to great lengths to ensure the pool could be built in the limited space available.

Oasis Pools found it difficult to gain access to the area, as it was only accessible through an 800mm door that was located at the rear of the property’s garage. This meant that all earthworks and construction materials were carried through this small space.

The pool area is fenced off with chic glass fencing, which was provided by GR8 Glass Pool Fencing, and gives the pool an elegant touch.

Featuring state-of-the-art filtration equipment, including a large CS250 cartridge filter, a Zodiac flo pro pump, and Zodiac Z300 MD8 electric heating, the pool is equipped with some of the finest products on the market.

The pool also features clear Spa Electrics WN950 underwater lighting, which creates a beautiful, iridescent glow in the water.

Howard is the owner and pool designer for Oasis Pools, and maintains a reputation for offering his clients quality concrete pools in unusual locations.

Concrete pools can be created in any shape and size to suit varying site conditions, including odd-shaped blocks, steep and sloping blocks, small spaces and any other challenging areas.

Oasis Pools is an expert in projects that present logistical and access difficulties, and Howard offers his clients exceptional design, construction knowledge and experience. Whether you have a simple site, or a challenging block that many designers would shy away from, Howard can always rise to the challenge.

The company builds approximately ten to 15 pools per year, and prides itself on its ability to create masterpieces in even the most difficult sites.

Particular design features such as infinity-edges are all easily achievable for Oasis Pools, and the company can help you every step of the way to ensure you’re left with the perfect pool for your property.

Project 1

DESIGN EXPERTISE

CHALLENGE ACCEPTED

The first project featured here is owned by a family that needed to fit a concrete swimming pool in a narrow front yard. The sloping street and limited space of the Mount lawley property required the team at oasis Pools to create a unique design and apply its expert engineering skills.

Due to limited space, the pool was designed right on the boundary and above ground, which allowed the pool wall to additionally serve as boundary fencing for the property. The fence is made with wrought iron and rendered brick piers, but the striking design is what truly sets this space apart. on the other side, on-trend frameless glass fencing has been used to enclose the beautiful 9m x 4m pool.

Inside the pool, blue waterline tiles from osborne Ceramics have been used, and the pool internal finish is smooth duraquartz ice blue plaster. Australis Pavestone has been used for the pool exterior, which contributes to the overall aesthetic appeal. This project is an excellent example of how a concrete pool can be engineered and overcome by the team at oasis Pools almost every time.

Before this project could begin, however, the team completed preliminary works including relocating sewer, gas, water and telephone lines. The team also had to work within design rules and restrictions set by the City of stirling, as the house was situated in a heritage zone.

The second project featured here was a complete renovation of an old concrete freeform pool. After much discussion, the owners of this beautiful Mandurah property decided that removing the old pool and building a larger one in its place was the better option.

There were, however, some special requirements to consider for the new 10m x 5m pool. The clients have several dogs that like to swim in the pool, so ledges were designed on all sides to allow the dogs to enter and exit the water safely. Four large shallow-entry steps also provide a glamorous Hollywood-style pool entry from the entertainment area.

The mosaic waterline tiles have a sleek black finish, and smooth granite-tread tiles have been used on all leading edges and steps. The interior of the pool is duraquartz onyx grey pool plaster, which provides a dark blue appearance and creates a mirror effect that reflects the limestone entertainment area.

THE HEIGHT OF STYLE

INGENIUS DESIGNS IN PREMIER SETTINGS

Located in the picturesque Mount Richon in the Perth Hills, this pool was designed and constructed by Oasis Pools to complement the stunning three-storey residence. Gary Green from Custom Built Homes was building the house next door and recommended Oasis Pools for the job.

The homeowners enjoy magnificent 180-degree views of the west coast, as well as the Perth skyline, which is 40 kilometres north of the property. To make the most of the sweeping views, the pool had to be built on a steep, clay site at the front of the house. Gil Howard tackled this project head-on and designed a self-supporting concrete pool that is nestled between the home’s driveway and structural foundations.

To ensure the pool was structurally sound, Scott and Associated Engineers assisted with the design of the pool’s structure, which has 200mm thick concrete walls, steel reinforcements and a concrete keel to ensure the pool doesn’t slip down the steep hill.

Measuring 8.4m x 4m, with a depth of 1.2m–1.9m, more than half of the pool is suitable for diving. The overall design includes a full-length sitting ledge and three walk-in steps, as well as an Indian blue quartz interior, which was supplied by DuraQuartz. It also features blue waterline tiles and speckled blue step treads from Osborne Ceramics.

Low-maintenance Zodiac Filtration equipment, including an e3 low-energy pump, large CS250 cartridge filter and self-cleaning salt water chlorinator and acid control system has been used to ensure the homeowners can spend less time cleaning and more time swimming.

In the evening, two blue LED pool lights enhance the stunning blue interior, while an Elite Pool Covers’ Hideaway in-ground pool cover system with a clear blanket is hidden under the timber decking. The homeowners added the finishing touches to the space with timber decking, built-in seating and a storeroom, as well as a toilet.

The second project featured here is a perfect example of what can be achieved when home builders and pool designers work together. The homeowners were unhappy with the architect who was previously working on their home extension, so when they enlisted Oasis Pools to design and build their pool, Gil Howard recommended Gary Green from Custom Built Homes to complete the job. The resulting project features an attractive rear bedroom that looks over the pool and spa.

The rear of the property was higher than the home’s existing patio, so the pool was designed to sit flush with the patio and complement both the existing and new architecture. Matching stonework has been used for the pool’s water feature and the back of the home, and frameless glass fencing was installed by Mike Conley from Riviera Fencing.

Featuring state-of-the-art Zodiac filtration equipment, including a large CV340 cartridge filter, a low-energy multi- speed pump, spa booster pump and gas heating, as well as two air blowers, eight spa jets and 12 air jets, the pool is equipped with some of the finest products Zodiac has to offer and controlled by Zodiac’s Aqualink remote control system.
