Tim Davies Landscaping Project 3

For this project, Martine Holland – a senior landscape architect at Tim Davies Landscaping – brought an outdoor area to life. The smart design maximises the space’s potential, while also increasing its aesthetic appeal. Showcasing a range of design features that add interest including a pool, boundary and entry walls and raised planters, as well as decorative screens, a steel dish planter and timber day bed, this beautiful landscape encompasses the very best Tim Davies Landscaping has to offer. The main focus of this project was to maximise the available space and create different zones. A timber deck with a daybed has been installed adjacent to the pool for teenagers to relax and spend time with their friends, while the alfresco area is separate to the pool and acts as an extension of the main living areas. The design also showcases bluestone paving, which connects the pool and alfresco area. Each space is connected through the use of quality materials, and complementary colours and textures.

Designed as an extension of the home, the outdoor area blends perfectly with the main living zones, effectively bringing the outdoors in. The design has also been set up to maximise the sense of space through the use of existing natural vegetation as a ‘borrowed landscape’. Passive solar design principles have been incorporated through the utilisation of deciduous trees on a northerly aspect. The plant selection also aims to soften the hardscaping and complement the architectural style. Established in 1983 by Tim Davies, a former president of the Landscape Industries Association (LIA), Tim Davies Landscaping is a leading landscape architecture practice that specialises in the design, construction and maintenance of quality residential, commercial, civic and remote landscapes, as well as pool design and construction services. The recipient of a number of awards, including awards at the Landscape Industries Association of WA, the company is based in Perth, but has the resources to undertake projects anywhere in Australia. Tim Davies Landscaping goes above and beyond to ensure its clients are left with a beautiful pool or outdoor landscape that can be admired for years to come.
