The first is an idyllic family pool on a five-acre property in Cardup. The homeowners wanted to create a spacious retreat away from the house that would evoke the feeling of being on holiday at a luxurious resort.
Barrier Reef Pools installed a 10.5m x 3.8m pool from the company’s Monaco range, providing generous swimming length and great depth. The pool was paired with a 2.6m x 2.6m spa, which features the same UV-resistant ‘Midnight Shimmer’ interior as the pool.
A raised deck area at one end of the pool is not only a spot to soak up the sun, but is also a cleverly concealed storage area. The deck lid opens and closes at the push of a button, providing a place to store pool toys and equipment.
The water feature that conceals the storage area is complemented by fountains on the fully-tiled sunbed, which runs the full length of the pool, and is the perfect place for the homeowners’ young girls to play.
Timeless travertine paving surrounds the pool and provides plenty of space to relax by the poolside. If the homeowners want to retreat from the sun, they can also relax under the shade of the umbrella, which was installed during the pool construction, or the remote-controlled Vergola structure with electric louvres.
To ensure the clients spend their time enjoying the space, rather than maintaining it, the pool is equipped with a self-cleaning system. The homeowners not only use the space for relaxing and swimming on hot summer days but also to entertain guests year-round.

The second gold-award winning project featured here is a classic European look in Mount Lawley. The homeowners wanted the pool to be flexible to facilitate a variety of uses, while still being the focal point of the backyard. With a strong idea of the overall look they wanted to achieve, the homeowners worked closely with Barrier Reef Pools to bring their vision to life.
Measuring 8.5m x 4.4m, the pool is taken from Barrier Reef Pools’ Venetian range, providing timeless style and a generous swimming space. The pool’s ‘Pacific Shimmer’ interior is complemented by basalt rebated coping.
The homeowners wanted a garden bed to run along the edge of the pool, so Barrier Reef Pools constructed a reinforced concrete beam, complete with three spillway water features. The water features’ LED lighting complements the Spa Electrics underwater lighting inside the pool.
Generous French doors lead out from the home onto the entertaining area with natural sandstone paving. Stepping down into the arbour-covered alfresco area, the sandstone continues in the form of crazy paving, which also surrounds the pool area.
